When to go

The best time to visit Bali with family.

Three seasons

It depends on what matters most.

Dry months mean sunshine, calm seas and beach days, but higher prices and bigger crowds, especially in July and August.

Shoulder and wet months trade some sunshine for lush landscapes, quieter sites and lower rates.

Sea and surf

The ocean changes with the seasons.

In the dry months the west coast surfs best, while families find gentler waves in protected areas and calm water for snorkelling.

In the wet season the surf moves east, and offshore sites such as Nusa Penida often stay clear for snorkelling.
